On behalf of the organizing committee, we would like to welcome you at the 11th Asian-European Symposium on Metal-Mediated Organic Synthesis that will be held at the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel from        February 6 to February 8th, 2023.

Initially created by Prof. Armin de Meijere, the first edition of the Symposium took place in Goettingen in 1996, and became a tradition where leading scientists met and discuss of the latest achievements in the field alternatively in Asia and Europe:  Kyoto in 2002 (Prof. Hiyama), Munich in 2003 (Prof. Knochel), Nagasaki in 2005 (Prof. Tamaru and Prof. Hayashi), Strasbourg in 2008 (Prof. Suffert), Singapore in 2010 (Prof Loh and Prof. Narasaka), Tarragona in 2012 (Prof Echavarren), in Cesme in 2014 (Prof. Artok), Stockolm in 2016 (Prof. Martin-Matute) and then in Hsinchu in 2018 (Prof. Cheng and Prof. Chen).

This new edition, without any exception, will bring outstanding colleagues from 14 different countries discussing on the most recent advances in new metal-catalyzed and metal-promoted reactions, mechanistic insights and new applications, novel preparations and uses of organometallic reagents, as well as ingenious and improved methods for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and materials.

This symposium will follow the very successful format of a “single session conference”, fostering discussion among participants and we strongly encourage young scientists, particularly graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, to attend as it will offer an excellent opportunity to meet prestigious speakers that will cover an exceptionally broad range of topics at the frontier of chemical research.

Technion is situated on the slopes of Mount Carmel and along the stunning beaches of the Mediterranean Sea in Haifa. Established in 1924, the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, with three active Nobel Prize Laureates in Chemistry in the last 15 years, is the premier research institution in Israel, known to be the start-up nation. We are looking forward meeting you all, to enjoy the beautiful science and the warm and friendly atmosphere of Haifa.
